About Cynserus
Compliance shouldn’t take three months and a lawyer.
Why Cynserus exists
Getting compliant shouldn’t require a lawyer, a consultant, and three months of work. That’s why we built Cynserus. You answer a 15-minute questionnaire about your business, and we build a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan specific to your workplace — your hazards, your layout, your team. Every plan follows the Cal/OSHA model plan structure, is customized with your industry’s documented risks, and is reviewed for quality before you see it.
The founder

Cynserus was founded by Pete Stephens, a former detective and Fortune 500 security executive with 15 years of experience building and running security programs at scale, including 24/7 global security operations for publicly traded companies with over 70,000 employees. His career spans the United States Marine Corps, the Santa Clara Police Department where he served on the Crisis Intervention Team, and senior security leadership at two of Silicon Valley’s most high-profile companies. He has personally managed workplace violence threat assessments, insider threat investigations, executive protection programs, and crisis response operations. He holds a degree in Psychology. He built Cynserus because he has seen firsthand what happens when employers do not have a plan, and because most small businesses cannot afford what traditional consultants charge for the same deliverable.

Why AI + human expertise
Purpose-Built Compliance Engine
Every plan is produced by a proprietary AI-assisted workflow designed specifically for SB 553 compliance. The system is modeled on Cal/OSHA’s official plan structure and incorporates the workplace violence risk profile of your industry, fused with your specific worksite data, staffing, and operations. The result is a document you could not get from a generic AI prompt or a downloaded template.
Human
Every plan goes through a multi-stage quality process before delivery. An automated compliance review scores each section for site-specificity and regulatory completeness. An adversarial audit identifies any gap a Cal/OSHA inspector could flag. Plans that don’t meet our quality threshold are automatically revised or escalated to the founder — a former detective who has managed workplace violence threat assessments firsthand.
